The East Brook Blast - June 14, 2018
The East Brook Blast
As the 2017-18 school year winds down, I want to thank our school community for another fantastic year!
This will be my final Blast of the year. This time next week, we will be celebrating our 6th graders being “clapped out” on their way to PRMS!
Class lists won’t be finalized for quite some time. We will be posting class assignments in the POWERSCHOOL Parent Portal in Mid-August. We will post them the same day as West Ridge. Again, please do not send any requests for teachers. The only exception will be incoming Kindergarten families along with new students as they have yet to register in the portal.
Finally, I’d like to recognize all of our outgoing 6th grade parents. Thank you for your time and commitment to East Brook though the years.
- 6th Grade – I will be sending an e-mail tomorrow to all 6th grade parents detailing Promotion information. Your tickets for Promotion will be sent home in an envelope Monday.
2 – Move-Up Day –Next Thursday is also “Move-Up Day.” All students will spend time with teachers in the grade level above their current homeroom. For example, if you child is in 1st grade, they will meet Mrs. O’Leary and Mrs. Omland. Sixth grade will not participate as they’ve already experienced Move-Up Day at the middle school.
- Summer Reading – Please be on the lookout for the Summer Bookworm Form. It will be distributed by the end of the school year. Thank you to Shannon O’Connor for coordinating this PTO Summer Reading activity.
In addition, we will be posting all Summer Reading assignments (K-6) on the school website in a few weeks. An e-mail or text will be sent out to alert parents when the information is posted.
- Awards Ceremony – On Tuesday, June 21st East Book Students will attend an Awards Ceremony. One of the awards distributed at the ceremony is called the Citizenship Award. This recognition is given to two students in each class. Students vote for their classmates based on a criteria I reviewed with teachers. We do everything to avoid this award turning into a popularity contest. Teachers do not vote or decide the winner. We will also acknowledge other individuals and classes (Tuesday Trivia Live Finale) on this day as well.
- Alex’s Lemonade Stand After school last Friday, 2nd grade raised over $700 for pediatric cancer! Thank you to all who participated.
