Here is your Digital Citizenship Announcement for the week:

Most passwords, even the “stolen” ones, are hacked using a dictionary and a fast processor.  The processor just tries every single word, until it finds a match.  That means that your best defense is

1: make a long password; consider 8 characters to be your minimum.

2: try to avoid words that would appear in the dictionary, and use numbers, characters, or deliberately misspelled words.  In fact, many experts recommend using a three-word phrase with misspelled words, which you can easily remember, as your password.  Finally, never use the same password across multiple sites.

Teachers, please consider nominating a student who is “digitally Smart.”  Contact Dr. Bernardo if you think you have a candidate.

Please support the Middle School Student Council- buy a bracelet for $1 anytime today and you can wear any school appropriate hat on Friday.  Find Mrs. Avery, Mrs. Maskin or any Middle School Student Council member to get your bracelet.  Thank you!
