About the Park Ridge ESL Program

The English as a second language (ESL) program is provided to Multilingual Learners (MLs) who have been identified as having a primary language other than English and have limited English proficiency, as determined by the completion of an English language proficiency assessment.

Once identified, Multilingual Learners will be assessed on a yearly basis, utilizing the ACCESS for ELLs assessment. This assessment looks at a student's skills in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. Scores on this assessment, as well as teacher feedback, will determine a student's continued need for the ESL program.
