EXTRAS - Park Ridge School District

The Park Ridge EXTRAS Program offers before and/or after school care, along with a summer program. The after school program provides recreational activities and time to complete homework. It is located in the Media Center at each of the elementary schools in Park Ridge.

Important Summer 2025 Information:

Registration for Summer Extras will start 5/1/2025, 7:00AM, for all options.

Summer EXTRAS June 23 - August 8 @East Brook School.

Summer EXTRAS is closed July 4th.

Program Information

The Park Ridge EXTRAS Program offers before and/or after school care, along with a summer program. The after school program provides recreational activities and time to complete homework. It is located in the Media Center at each of the elementary schools in Park Ridge.

Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the program.

Before school care starts at 7:30 a.m.

After school care starts at 3:20 p.m. and ends at 6:15 p.m.

On half-days, EXTRAS starts at 1:00 p.m.

ELIGIBILITY: Any Park Ridge Public School Student enrolled in kindergarten through 6th grade is eligible to attend.

STAFF
Our staff consists of certified teachers who are chosen to give special care and individual attention to each child. We maintain a healthy staff/children ratio. Included in our staff are adult assistants, student aides, and a program coordinator.

ACTIVITIES
EXTRAS activities are designed to enhance your child's day in a safe and nurturing environment.

Our staff provides a variety of activities including FREE RECREATION TIME IN THE GYM AND OUTSIDE, ARTS AND CRAFTS, GAMES, AND HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE.

Please note: If your child is registered for a specific day and is not attending, you must write a note to your child's teacher and a note to the EXTRAS program is required. If not, we will not release your child from EXTRAS.

Registration and Payment Information

Please do not drop checks off at the East Brook or West Ridge main office - payment for EXTRAS should go to the EXTRAS program attendant, or the Business Office.

Monthly Registration:

Payment can be made by credit card or check using this link to Community Pass.

You can only register through Community Pass for the entire month if your schedule is consistent for each week. There will be no more cycles but rather months. That means some months will have four weeks, some five weeks.

Partial Registration:

If you plan to attend for a “partial” month for example, if you want to register for two days one week and three days another, you will need to follow the following steps:

First, you MUST fill out a Contact Form .

Second, you MUST pay by check one week prior to the period you need. There will be no exceptions to this. If you intend to use the program for the entire month, you must use the online form and cannot change your program preference by week.

Payment must be made by check no less than a week in advance of attendance.

Switching Days is not permitted. If you do not use a day you pay for and would like to add an additional day to the same week you must pay drop-in fee.

There will be NO exceptions to this.

4:15 PM pickup rates must be consistent with the scheduled pickup.

LATE CHARGE: $5.00 for every 15 minutes or part thereof after 6:15 PM or 4:15 PM if an early pick-up.

Registration will remain the same as previous years with an annual charge of $35 assessed for your first enrollment. You can start signing up for the program by logging in or creating an account at Community Pass.

Discipline Policy

The Park Ridge EXTRAS program approaches discipline in a positive way in which children are encouraged to appreciate their own rights and the rights of others.

One goal of our program is to maintain order as we help the children grow in self-esteem and self-discipline.

We have a NO BULLIES program. If your child does not follow our rules or causes harm to others, they will be removed from the program.

School Closures

Policy on refunds due to program closures.

The District does refund money for dates where there are school closures that prevent the program from running as scheduled.

From November 1^st through March 31^st, the district will keep track of any closures or delays which are a result of inclement weather. In April, the district will issue a credit to each family impacted on those days at the Board approved reimbursement rate.

Should school be closed on dates outside the range listed above, reimbursement will be made within 30 days of the occurrence.

Join The Flavor Labs for some fun, hands-on food activities! We will be creating some delicious no-bake treats, as well as some you can take home and pop right in your oven or air fryer! We will tackle a variety of both sweet and savory recipes. You'll be sure to impress your family with your kitchen prowess!
